Kualoa Ranch Tours Compared
Kualoa Ranch sits 45 minutes from Waikiki on the windward coast, in the valleys where Jurassic Park, Jurassic World and Kong: Skull Island were filmed. The ranch runs its own tours, from a 90-minute movie-sites ride to a 3-hour zipline, and the names blur together fast. Here is what each one covers, what it costs, and who it suits, with the ranch’s own adult prices as of September 2026.

The Sightseeing Tours: Movie Sites and Jungle
The two 90-minute tours are the gentlest way into the valleys. Both are $59.95 for adults and $39.95 for kids 3 to 12.
Movie Sites & Ranch Tour
The broadest look at the ranch for the least time and money. You see filming locations from Kong: Skull Island, Jumanji, Godzilla, Finding ʻOhana and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, plus a World War II-era army bunker stocked with movie props. Book this one if you only have a morning.
Jungle Expedition Tour
A trip into the rainforest of Hakipuʻu Valley, where scenes from Jurassic World, Kong: Skull Island and Jumanji were shot. It is the pick for families with younger kids who still want the movie valleys.

The Adventure Tours: Jurassic, UTV, Zipline, Horseback
These go deeper into Kualoa, Hakipuʻu and Kaʻaʻawa valleys, on rougher ground. Wear closed-toe shoes for the UTV, zipline and horseback tours.
Jurassic Adventure Tour
The deepest access to the actual film sites. An open-air vehicle takes you to the Indominus Rex paddock and its 60-foot walls from Jurassic World, dinosaur cages and bunkers, and the field where the gallimimus stampede in the original Jurassic Park was filmed. The ride is rough, and the ranch doesn’t advise it for guests with back problems or for expecting mothers. Kids 3 to 12 are $74.95.
UTV Raptor Tour
You drive a UTV over dirt roads, dusty trails and stream crossings, stopping at movie sites for photos. Drivers must be 21 with a valid license; riders can be as young as 5, and each vehicle takes up to six people with two drivers. Would rather not drive? The Ride-Along version covers the same route at the same price, with a guide at the wheel. Kids 5 to 12 are $69.95.
Zipline Tour
Seven tandem ziplines, two suspension bridges and five short nature hikes through Kaʻaʻawa Valley. It has the strictest fit rules of any tour here: riders must be 4′8″ to 6′9″ and 70 to 280 pounds, and everyone is weighed at check-in. Skip it with back, heart or joint problems.
Horseback Tour
A leisurely ride through the valleys and pastures, including Kaʻaʻawa, the way the ranch’s paniolo (Hawaiian cowboys) see them. Riders must be 10 or older, at least 4′6″ tall and no more than 230 pounds. Helmets and closed-toe shoes are required. Book it for the views, not the adrenaline.
The Ocean and Beach Tours
Kualoa runs down to Kaneohe Bay, and two tours use the water side of the ranch. Offshore sits Mokoliʻi Island, the cone-shaped islet long nicknamed “Chinaman’s Hat.”
Ocean Voyage
You cross the 800-year-old Moliʻi Fishpond, then board a catamaran for Kaneohe Bay, with views of Mokoliʻi, the Hakipuʻu and Kualoa valleys and the Koʻolau range. Watch for sea turtles. It does not run on Sundays or federal holidays, and you need to be able to climb stairs to board. Kids 3 to 12 are $39.95.
Secret Island Beach
Unstructured time at the ranch’s beach, with kayaks, paddleboards, canoe paddling, beach volleyball and hammocks, plus showers and changing rooms. The half day is 3 hours, morning or afternoon, at $59.95; the full day is 6 hours with a box lunch at $119.95. It fills the gap between two land tours well.
The Kualoa Grown Tour: Farms and the Fishpond
Kualoa Grown Tour
The tour for travelers who want the land over the movies. You visit working farms and tropical fruit and flower gardens, hear how the ranch farms today, and stop at Moliʻi Fishpond, a stone-walled pond 800 to 1,000 years old and on the National Register of Historic Places. It used to be called the Mālama Experience. Kids 3 to 12 are $39.95.
Combo Packages: What a Full Day Costs
If you want more than one tour, a package is the simpler buy. Both include the Ranch House buffet lunch.
Best of Kualoa (The Total Kualoa Experience)
Three 90-minute tours (Movie Sites, Jungle Expedition and Kualoa Grown) plus lunch. Check-in is 8:30 a.m. and the day runs to about 3:30 p.m. At $164.95 it costs less than the three tours booked separately ($179.85), and lunch is included. Kids 3 to 12 are $99.95.
Kualoa Half-Day Package (From the Mountain to the Ocean)
The Movie Sites tour and the Ocean Voyage, plus lunch, so you get the valleys and the bay in one visit. Check-in is 9:45 a.m. and it ends around 2:30 p.m.; arrive 15 minutes early for the briefing. Kids 3 to 12 are $69.95.

Getting to Kualoa Ranch From Waikiki
The ranch puts the drive from Waikiki at 45 minutes. Take H-1 west to the Likelike Highway through the Wilson Tunnel, then the Kahekili Highway north until it becomes Kamehameha Highway. The entrance is on the left, just past Mokoliʻi.
- No car? Take the ranch shuttle. It runs round trip from Waikiki for $30 plus tax per person, with pickups at Aqua Palms, Twin Fin Waikiki, Sheraton Waikiki, Hotel La Croix, White Sands and Prince Waikiki.
- TheBus works, slowly. The ranch lists routes 8, 19, 20, 23, 42, 60 and 88A from Waikiki, at $3 per adult each way, but the trip takes far longer than driving.
- Make a day of the coast. Kualoa sits on the windward route to the North Shore. Our Oahu scenic drive map and Oahu road trip guide cover the stops before and after, and our guide to what to do on the North Shore picks up where the ranch leaves off.
Before You Go
- Arrive early. The ranch asks half-day package guests to arrive at least 15 minutes early for check-in and a briefing. Plan on the same for any tour.
- Dress for dirt and rain. Wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes, required on the e-bike, horseback, UTV and zipline tours. Pack a light rain jacket: tours run rain or shine unless there are high winds or lightning. Our guide to the best time to visit Oahu covers the wetter months.
- Know the cancellation rule. If you booked with the ranch directly, call 808-237-7321 at least 48 hours before your tour for a full refund. If the ranch cancels for safety, it refunds that portion.
- Kids need an adult along. Guests 17 and under must be with an adult on every tour.
- Direct is a little cheaper. Prices on this page are the ranch’s own. Resellers, including the Viator links above, run a few dollars more per person.
The History Under the Movie Sets
Long before Hollywood, Kualoa was one of the most sacred places on Oahu. By the ranch’s own account, it was a puʻuhonua (a place of refuge) and a royal residence, where the aliʻi were taught the arts of war, history and tradition. It also hosted the annual Makahiki, with its warrior games.
The ranch as a private landholding dates to 1850, when King Kamehameha III sold about 622 acres at Kualoa to Dr. Gerrit P. Judd, a missionary doctor and the king’s advisor. The film history came a century later, on top of the older one. Moliʻi Fishpond, which you see on the Kualoa Grown tour and the Ocean Voyage, is the clearest link between the two.
Kualoa also hosts weddings at Paliku Gardens, beneath the same cliffs. Our guide to Oahu wedding venues compares it with the other ranch, garden and hotel sites, and if you are still choosing a base for the trip, see where to stay on Oahu.
