What is the Oahu Travel Guide
Oahu is the most visited island in Hawaii, and most of that traffic concentrates in a narrow strip between the airport and Diamond Head. That version of the island is convenient but incomplete. Most of what makes Oahu worth traveling to is found outside that corridor.
This guide helps visitors find it. It covers all six regions across food, lodging, beaches, hikes and logistics, and it is updated regularly. Anything that has closed or changed comes off the site rather than staying up to mislead people. The goal has always been simple: give travelers the same information a local would give a friend visiting for the first time.
What We Cover
Every corner of the island, not just Waikiki. Oahu has six distinct regions, and we cover all of them. Waikiki and Honolulu are treated separately here because they offer genuinely different experiences, and most visitors benefit from knowing the distinction before they arrive.
How We Research and Review
Every hotel, restaurant and tour review on this site is researched from primary sources: the business’s own website and policies, published resort fees and parking rates, menus, state and city agencies, maps, and recent traveler reports. Each review lists its sources and the date they were checked.
If we can’t confirm something, it stays out. When a fee or rule isn’t published, the review says so instead of guessing. We don’t quote nightly room rates because they change daily; fees and prices appear as published, with the date we checked them. Before a review goes live we confirm the business is still open, and closed places come off the site.
Each review weighs the strengths against at least one fair criticism, rates the place for couples, families, friends, solo travelers and groups, and names alternatives that may suit you better. We never claim a visit we didn’t make. When Stew, who runs the guide, knows a place first-hand, the review carries a note from Stew.
Some links earn us a commission: Viator tours and DiscoverCars rentals. A disclosure sits next to every booking card. Places without an affiliate link get the same coverage, with a link to their Google Maps listing.
