The 30-second verdict
Book the Prince for a quiet, modern room with a water view, a grown-up pool deck and easy golf, at fees below the big beachfront resorts. Skip it if you want to walk out of the lobby onto the sand: it faces a boat harbor, and the nearest beach has no lifeguard tower.

Known for
The view and the pool deck
The hotel bills itself as Waikiki’s only oceanfront hotel with all ocean-view rooms. Its 5th-floor deck, with the infinity pool at the harbor’s edge, is the other draw.
Rooms
The two towers opened in 1990 as the Hawaii Prince and were renovated in 2017. Every room has floor-to-ceiling windows, a TOTO washlet, a mini fridge and a king or two queens, and sleeps four; none lists a lanai. Ocean View rooms (385 square feet) look toward Ala Moana Beach Park. For the harbor and sunset, book Oceanfront Harbor on the lower floors or Oceanfront and Oceanfront Premier higher up, all 414 square feet.

Suites and Club Lounge
Suites run from the 838-square-foot Ocean View Suite to the 1,221-square-foot two-bedroom Oceanfront Suite, and the Club Ocean Terrace Suite adds a private rooftop terrace. None has a kitchen. The Club Lounge sits on the pool deck, with breakfast, snacks, an evening spread, beer and wine.
Pools and Spa
The 5th-floor deck holds the infinity pool, for guests 16 and up, a saltwater pool for everyone and a hot tub, open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Cabanas and daybeds are booked through ResortPass, which also sells day passes, so the deck is not guests-only. Naio Bliss handles massages, and the gym is open 24 hours.
Getting to the Beach
The Prince faces the Ala Wai Boat Harbor, not a beach. The nearest sand is Duke Kahanamoku Beach and its calm lagoon, about 8 to 10 minutes east past Hilton Hawaiian Village, and that stretch has no city lifeguard tower. For lifeguards, cross the harbor bridge to Ala Moana Beach Park (about 12 to 14 minutes) or Magic Island (towers 1B to 1G). See Waikiki’s beaches, section by section and check whether it is safe to swim today.

Golf in Ewa
The hotel company still owns the Hawaii Prince Golf Club in Ewa Beach, about 40 minutes away: 27 holes by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay, opened in 1992, played as three nines. The club’s published 2026 green fee is $179, or $169 for hotel guests, with cart, range balls and tax included. The round-trip shuttle is free with the resort charge but runs on a limited schedule, so reserve it ahead.
100 Sails, Katsumidori and Hinana Bar
100 Sails is the main restaurant, facing the harbor sunsets, with a la carte meals, nightly buffets and happy hour at the bar from 4 to 6 p.m. Katsumidori Sushi Tokyo is the Tokyo sushi chain’s only location outside Japan. Hinana Bar serves the pool deck, with live music at sunset on weekends, and Honolulu Coffee opens in the lobby at 6 a.m. For sunset on the water, the Pink Sails catamarans board across the street; compare them in our Waikiki sunset cruise guide.
Around the Prince
Ala Moana Center is about 12 minutes on foot and the Convention Center about 14. Central Waikiki is about 25 minutes, so the trolley or TheBus helps. Compare fees in our Waikiki resort fees guide and our Waikiki parking guide. The hotel is card 05 in the best Waikiki hotels.

Could be better
No beach, and no lifeguard on the nearest one. The hotel calls itself oceanfront, but it faces a boat harbor. The closest sand, Duke Kahanamoku Beach by the Hilton lagoon, is about an 8-minute walk on a stretch with no city lifeguard tower, and the nearest guarded water is across the harbor at Ala Moana Beach Park.
Consider Instead
- Hilton Hawaiian Village is the beachfront choice next door for families: a calm lagoon, five pools and waterslides on its own sand. Hilton does not publish the resort fee, and parking runs $72.25 to $93.19 a night.
- Halekulani is the luxury pick on the sand at the same west end of Waikiki, with no resort fee, for couples who want the beach at the door. Parking is $68 a night.
- Sheraton Waikiki has its own 16-and-over infinity pool on the ocean plus a family pool with a 70-foot slide, in central Waikiki, for a $52 resort fee.
Tips Before You Book Prince Waikiki
- Reserve the golf shuttle early. It is free with the resort charge but runs on a limited schedule.
- Pick the room for the view. Oceanfront types face the harbor and sunset; Ocean View rooms face Ala Moana.
- Spend the resort charge. Honolulu Museum of Art and Bishop Museum admissions and an ʻIolani Palace audio tour are included.
- Check the garage height. Self-park clearance is 6 feet 1 inch; EV chargers are on level E.
- Hawaii residents, look at the kamaʻāina rate, which waives the resort charge.
