Known for
Dim sum, ordered from a menu
Shrimp dumplings ($7.50), pork hash with seafood ($7.50), baked barbecue pork buns ($7.85) and egg custard tarts ($7.50) were the dim sum prices Aloha State Daily printed in March 2026. A food writer’s post from the move adds spring rolls and char siu look fun to the list.
What to Order
Start with the dim sum standards: shrimp dumplings (har gow, $7.50), pork hash with seafood ($7.50), baked barbecue pork buns ($7.85) and egg custard tarts ($7.50). For dinner, Aloha State Daily listed roast duck and barbecue pork ($36.50), Peking duck ($42 for a half, $68 whole), honey walnut shrimp ($25.50) and a house special chow mein ($22.50). Those prices were printed on March 13, 2026, since the restaurant posts no menu online. For more dim sum, see our self-guided Oahu food tour and the best food on Oahu.

The Move and the Room
Owner Terry Cheung opened the restaurant in September 2022 at 1538 Kapiolani Boulevard, according to Honolulu Magazine. Its Chinese name translates to “Happy Drunk Seafood Restaurant.” On March 8, 2026 it reopened at 747 Amana Street, in the former space of a yakiniku restaurant, with the same menu. Honolulu Magazine reported in 2023 that it ordered from a full-color photo menu with no carts, and a 2025 update from She’s Almost Always Hungry still described menu ordering. The new dining room is not described by the restaurant, so this guide does not describe it either.
Price and Hours
The restaurant’s Instagram lists Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Google agrees. Dim sum plates ran $7.50 to $7.85 in March 2026, and entrees $22.50 to $68. Honolulu Magazine said dim sum service ended at 3:30 p.m. at the old room in 2023, but the new room does not publish a cutoff, so ask before a late-afternoon visit. Phone: (808) 946-8688.
Getting There and Parking
The address is 747 Amana Street, in the Ala Moana and Makiki area, about 1.8 miles from the Royal Hawaiian Center. Google Maps gives about 7 minutes by car, 18 minutes on TheBus Route 2 from Kuhio Avenue and Lewers Street, or 30 minutes on foot. The restaurant says free underground parking is available; Aloha State Daily called it limited, with street parking nearby. Staying in Waikiki without a car? Could be better
There is no website to check. The restaurant’s facts live on its Instagram and Google profile, many directories still show the old Kapiolani Boulevard address, and the menu prices here come from a March 2026 news report, not a menu the restaurant posts. Call (808) 946-8688 before a special trip.
Consider Instead
- Jade Dynasty Seafood Restaurant is the pick for a group or a white-tablecloth lunch: 4th floor of Ala Moana Center, a dim sum menu from $2.75, online booking and private rooms.
- Mei Sum Dim Sum suits a Chinatown morning: open daily on Nuuanu Avenue from 8 a.m. on weekends, with reservations by phone, an easy walk from the market stalls.
Tips Before You Go to Kapiolani Seafood
- Use the new address. Put 747 Amana Street in your map, not 1538 Kapiolani Boulevard.
- Come early on weekends. The doors open at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
- Order from the menu. Press reports describe menu ordering, not carts.
- Ask about the dim sum cutoff. The old room stopped at 3:30 p.m. in 2023, and the new one is unpublished.
- Park underground. The restaurant says it is free; the garage may be limited, so allow time.
- Call for a big group. No reservation policy is published: (808) 946-8688.
- No car? Use TheBus or a rideshare from Waikiki.
