For those visitors who want to get the most of “The Gathering Place” during their trip to Hawaii, you will have to stay busy during your stay. No single trip can see all the island has to offer, but if you plan on visiting multiple islands, then figuring out your stay on Oahu could prove Difficult.
7 Days on Oahu
A full week on Oahu will give you an opportunity to experience the true diversity of the island. From spending time in town, snorkeling in Hanauma Bay, to relaxing on the North Shore. Oahu’s diverse size and population makes it one of the most popular destinations for a while.
Sample 7 Day Itinerary
Day 1
Arrive & Relax: Check into your hotel and get a good nights sleep. Jet lag is real, and chances are you will be up early and ready to explore! We suggest a light meal near the hotel.
Day 2
If you are coming from the mainland, your body will naturally wake you up early. This is a great chance to see the Sunrise, grab a coffee, then relax at the beach. Grab a pre dinner Mai Tai and enjoy one of Waikiki’s renowned restaurants.
Day 3
Start your day with a view. The Makapu’u Point lighthouse trail is a elevated, but paved trail with scenic views of Maui (on a clear day) and one of the islands great whale watching locations.
When finished this is the perfect opportunity to explore Halona Blowhole and Koko Head crater. Be warned that Koko Head crater hike should not be taken lightly as it is a challenging and often dangerous hike.
Day 4
Head North: The North shore is one of Oahu’s most iconic areas. With beautiful beaches, laid back vibes, and some of the worlds most famous surf. The winter waves are nothing to joke about, and are best experiences from shore. So instead of getting wet, pack a picnic and enjoy the breathtaking waves from the comfort of the beach.
Before you arrive stop at Dole Plantation* for a Dole Whip.
While the Dole Plantation is an important piece of Hawaii history, it is important to note that Sanford Dole was a key figure in the overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy.
Day 5
Experience the Windward Side: The windward side of Oahu feels like a different planet. Pass through the iconic H3 and see the world transform as you exit the tunnel. Use this day as you feel. Iconic beaches or hikes are your oyster but one of the islands crown jewels is the Hoสปomaluhia Botanical Garden.
Day 6
A taste of History:
Pearl Harbor: this could be a day in itself, but many choose to only spend a half day here. Our suggestion would to get here early, and finish before the crowds start to grow.
Iolani Palace: Make sure that you spend a day enjoying Hawaii’s rich cultural past. Iolani Palace is the historic royal residence located downtown. It is the only official state residence of royalty in the United States and served as the residence of the Hawaiian monarchy. The palace is a symbol of Hawaiiโs rich cultural heritage and history.
Bishop Museum: Home of the WORLDโS largest collection of Polynesian cultural artifacts and natural history specimens. The Bishop Museum is another potential all day attraction.
Day 7
Enjoy The Water:
Being an island, Oahu has no shortage of water activities. From surfing, snorkling, kayaking, or a day on the sandbar. Find the activity that is best for you and enjoy the ocean like no where else can offer.
4 Days on Oahu
With 4 days you have to be a bit more intentional as you wont get to rest as much. We would suggest a roadtrip, day of education, hike & beach day and to double up on your favoirte activity day for.
3 Days on Oahu
If intentional is the way to approach 4 days, then strategic is the way to do 3 days on Oahu. With only 3 days you will have the opportunity to see 3 of the islands most famous, unique, and different parts. The North Shore, Windward Side, and Honolulu.
